Laureates' BiographiesJerry C. Atkin  Jerry C. Atkin is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SkyWest, Inc and its subsidiary companies. Jerry was born and raised in St. George, Utah. He graduated from the University of Utah earning both a Bachelors Degree and Masters of Business Administration and practiced as a Certified Public Accountant for two years prior to joining SkyWest. Jerry was first hired at SkyWest as Director of Finance in 1974. In 1975, he was appointed President and CEO, making him the youngest president of a scheduled airline in United States aviation history. In July 1991, Jerry was elected Chairman of the Board. He has led SkyWest from a company with annual revenues of $1 million to a publicly held company with $888 million in revenue and more than 7,300 employees. Jerry has served as director on a number of boards and has received numerous awards for his work in the community. He currently serves on the Board of Zions Bancorporation and the Utah State Board of Regents. Jerry and his wife, the former Carolyn Jones, live in St. George, Utah and are the parents of three sons and one daughter. |
