With a range of different program, Junior Achievement teaches about concepts relating to entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work readiness. Over 7,600 volunteers each year bring real life business experience and guidance in 3,484 classrooms throughout Utah reaching nearly 85,000 students.
Through an innovative partnership between the business community, educators and volunteers, JA of Utah helps young people make the connection between what they’re learning in school and how it applies to the lives in the real world. A 2016-17 evaluation shows that JA alumni have a 93% high school graduation rate, compared the national average. JA programs increase knowledge and influence attitudes in a way that results in student’s increased self-confidence. This fosters competency and a sense of purpose, both of which are necessary for students to overcome challenges that might otherwise prevent them from graduating from high school or succeeding at higher education.
Junior Achievement programs include:
- In-class programs grades K-12
- JA City; our experiential learning site offered to 5th and 8th grades students
- Our STEM and career initiative, which increases student exposure to STEM concepts and careers.
