Charles Dahlquist & Keith B. McMullin – Utah Business Hall of Fame 2021 & 2022 Inductees

Junior Achievement of Utah inducted Charles Dahlquist and Keith B. McMullin into the Utah Business Hall of Fame in June 2022 at JA City in Salt Lake City.

It was an honor to induct Charles Dahlquist and Keith B. McMullin into our Utah Business Hall of Fame and to celebrate their extraordinary contributions to our community. The Utah Business Hall of Fame was first established in 1990 by Junior Achievement of Utah to recognize past and present business leaders for their outstanding and enduring efforts to improve the products, processes, and human relations of business. One of our most critical objectives with the Hall of Fame event is to provide our young people with a better understanding of who the true heroes of Utah are, thus giving these young minds notable examples to emulate.

Charles W. Dahlquist earned a degree in broadcast communications from Brigham Young University, and a law degree from the University of Utah College of Law. He worked as a trial lawyer with the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C., before returning to Salt Lake, where he joined the law firm of Kirton McConkie. Charles specializes in healthcare law and served as a member of the American Academy of Hospital Attorneys. He is now of Counsel to the firm. Charles was the Honorary Consul for the Federal Republic of Germany in Utah from 1999 to 2015. He has held many civic leadership positions, and currently serves on many boards, including Junior Achievement of Utah, Hale Centre Theatre, American Cancer Society-Utah, and UVU Center for Constitutional Studies. Charles has served in various positions within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including President of the Germany Hamburg Mission (1992-1995) and General Young Men’s President of the Church (2004-2009). Charles is active with the Boy Scouts of America and is a member of the BSA National Executive Board. He is currently the President and CEO for the Vanguard International Scouting Association, an independent association serving Latter-day Saint Scouts and Scouting leaders worldwide.

Keith B. McMullin has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Deseret Management Corporation since April 2012. He is a banking and finance graduate of the University of Utah, and has distinguished himself in business, leadership, and service throughout his life. As a general authority and a member of the Presiding Bishopric of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1995 to 2012, Keith traveled to countries across the world, speaking and training church members, overseeing the church’s humanitarian and relief efforts, and leading the church’s business operations. He also participated in the improvement of local communities, including the City Creek Center in Salt Lake City. Prior to his call to the Presiding Bishopric, Keith served as a mission president for the Church of Jesus Christ in Germany, where he also served a full-time mission as a young man. He previously worked at Ford Motor Company and has managed several small businesses.

Charles and Keith were joined by laureates Scott Anderson, Bill Child, Gail Miller, Ron Jibson, Ray D. Pickup, and Governor Gary Herbert who served as the honorary chairperson. All of our laureates demonstrate business excellence, courageous thinking and acting, inspired leadership, and community-mindedness. These icons of business are exemplary role models for future generations.
