Junior Achievement of Utah inducted Crystal Maggelet, CEO and Chair of FJ Management, Inc., into the Utah Business Hall of Fame in June 2023 at JA City in Salt Lake City.
It was an honor to induct Crystal Maggelet into our Utah Business Hall of Fame and to celebrate her exceptional contributions to our community. The Utah Business Hall of Fame was first established in 1990 by Junior Achievement of Utah to recognize past and present business leaders for their outstanding and enduring efforts to improve the products, processes, and human relations of business. One of our most critical objectives with the Hall of Fame event is to provide our young people with a better understanding of who the true heroes of Utah are, thus giving these young minds notable examples to emulate.
Since 2008, Crystal Maggelet has served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chair of FJ Management Inc., a diversified family business that includes wholly-owned subsidiaries: Maverik, a 400 c-store chain and Big West Oil, a petroleum refinery. Other family businesses include TAB Bank, a community bank, and Crystal Inn, a small chain of hotels. In addition, she dedicates her time and expertise to many other esteemed boards. After graduating from Pepperdine University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, she completed her college education with an MBA from Harvard Business School and has Honorary Doctorates in Business from Utah State University and Weber State University.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Crystal has devoted herself to philanthropic endeavors. Her passion for making a positive impact has led her to collaborate with numerous charitable organizations, bringing about meaningful change in her community and beyond. She is actively involved in managing their family’s charitable giving through the Call Foundation, which has awarded over $6 million in scholarships to over 800 students across Utah. In 2022, she established the Call to Action Foundation, a private operating foundation that proudly invested over $8 million to preserve more than 400 affordable housing units for vulnerable populations. With her remarkable achievements and compassionate spirit, Crystal continues to inspire and uplift others.
Crystal was joined by laureates Charles Dahlquist, Keith B. McMullin, Ray Pickup, Ron Jibson, and Gail Miller who served as the honorary chairperson. All of our laureates demonstrate business excellence, courageous thinking and acting, inspired leadership, and community-mindedness. These icons of business are exemplary role models for future generations.
