NACD Utah and Utah Business celebrated the board of Junior Achievement of Utah & Idaho with the Outstanding Directors 2025 award for strengthening their local community and elevating their organizational mission.
Junior Achievement of Utah & Idaho’s board members have been instrumental in shaping young people’s understanding of their futures through practical, experiential learning. These programs, as highlighted by Steve Daly, CEO of Instructure and chairman of the JA of Utah & Idaho board, complement traditional classroom education by providing hands-on experience in financial literacy, business operations, and career exploration. Initiatives like Junior Achievement City allow students to engage in a simulated economy, managing businesses and finances, while JA In A Day brings community professionals into schools to discuss careers and the importance of finance.
Utah First Lady Abby Cox, an advisory council member on the JA board, underscores the critical need for Junior Achievement’s financial literacy programs, noting that many graduates lack essential personal finance knowledge. The board’s collective network is vital in expanding JA’s reach, with members leveraging their business contacts to secure resources and volunteers. Both Daly and Cox emphasize the profound impact these programs have, enabling students to envision and pursue diverse career paths they might not otherwise consider, thereby fostering a powerful sense of possibility for their futures.
We want to thank all of our board members for being advocates of Junior Achievement, and more importantly, the students we serve. Without your guidance and leadership, we would not be able to make the kind of impact that is so important to so many!
