Reopening FAQs

When will teachers be able to pickup program materials?

Teacher material pickups will be hosted at JA City during August 2021. Curbside pickup will be an available option to teachers when they RSVP for their pickup date.

When will JA Finance Park and JA BizTown on-site simulations resume?

Currently, we plan to reopen our facility to standard capacity school visits starting on September 15, 2021. JA will continue to monitor coronavirus.utah.gov/education/website for updates in CDC school guidelines and recommendations. Our top priority is providing a safe experience for students, educators, volunteers, and JA staff. Events may be adjusted based on those recommendations.

Will masks be required at JA City ?

In response to SLC Mayor Mendenhall’s recent request that all Salt Lake City businesses require employees to wear masks when interacting with the public, regardless of their vaccination status, Junior Achievement of Utah staff and volunteers will be required to wear masks at our JA City facility. Our goal is to keep students and other members of our community safe. We will continue to monitor and follow recommendations of the State, Local, and CDC guidelines and share updates with schools and volunteers coming to JA City before their visit. Regarding teachers and students wearing masks, we will follow the school’s current guidelines.

What additional hygiene practices can I expect on-site?

JA has made additional hygienic resources available and will actively promote hygienic best practices. We want all visitors to feel safe. With that in mind we have upgraded our facilities to be touch free and increased availability/access to touch free hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes throughout JA City.

When will the new JA City open in Orem?

The new JA City in Orem is scheduled to be completed and opened by the 2022-2023 school year. The pandemic coupled with construction costs on the rise has slowed down our timeline, but it has not stunted the enthusiasm around move forward with our capital campaign and our mission to serve more student in the state of Utah.
